Dual-Bay Freezer Coldrooms Installed in Cambridge

We recently completed a specialist coldroom installation for a prestigious surgical training centre based in Cambridge. The facility required a reliable and efficient solution for mortuary and anatomical preservation, and our team was proud to deliver a fully integrated system tailored to their unique requirements. The project involved the supply, build, and commissioning of two joint single-bay freezer coldrooms, designed to provide optimal cold storage with consistent performance and ease of use.

To ensure durability and thermal integrity, we used Viessmann coldroom panels, renowned for their high insulation properties and hygienic finishes. The rooms were constructed with meticulous attention to detail to meet both functional and regulatory standards. Cooling is powered by a remote J&E Hall plant, selected for its reliability, energy efficiency, and quiet operation—an important consideration for a sensitive training environment.

As part of the turnkey solution, we also fabricated and installed a custom metal framework to support the external condensers. Designed and built in-house, this frame ensures safe elevation, stability, and future serviceability of the condenser units while maximising the available footprint of the site. Every element of the external and internal plant was carefully planned to provide longevity, performance, and ease of maintenance.

Once installation was complete, our team commissioned and fully tested the system to ensure it met all operational parameters. From panel build to plant integration and final handover, the project was delivered efficiently and to a high professional standard. The result is a robust, low-maintenance coldroom solution that supports the surgical centre’s vital work—now and into the future.

This install was carried out by Kieran, Mike and Harley.
